Honda relies on India to drive its ambition for global leadership in the electric two-wheeler market.

Honda, who produced iconic scooters like Activa have described their vision to become a key player in the global electric two-wheeler market. The company started its electric journey with the introduction of Activa e and Honda QC1 in 2024 and officially rolled out the scooters in February 2025.
Honda is also expanding their electric two-wheeler lineup by unveiling Honda Icon e in the Philippines and other South Asian markets. The company is also planning to launch Honda CUV e in Europe and Japan, as this launch will be their first product to go on sale in those regions.
Honda’s New Electric Two-Wheeler Facility
The Director, President, and Representative Executive Officer of Honda, Toshihiro Mibe has defined the Indian Market as important to reach their objectives. As Honda has positioned India as a strategic place to establish their new electric two-wheeler factory. The factory will be built in Karnataka, with production expected to start till 2028.
Honda is planning to have multiple operations in their new dedicated electric two-wheeler facility such as component modularizing across Honda’s electric lineup to make the vehicles cost-effective and increase their efficiency.
The facility is of great strategic value as products manufactured in the new facility will be exported to several international markets.
If we talk about engineering the products, Honda will be crafting their EVs on dedicated platforms, exclusively developed for EV powertrains and also to manufacture them at their new plant which aims for higher efficiency and smoother operations.
This will allow Honda to price their new vehicles competitively in the market and will help to redefine their presence as a global leader in the electric two-wheeler industry.
Honda Global Sales
If we talk about the sales figure for the financial year 2024, the company recorded sales of an astounding 2.057 Crore motorcycles, which is the exact 40% of the world market. Thus Honda achieved its highest ever sales which spans across 37 countries.
Honda has also predicted that the sales of motorcycles will constantly rise in India where rising purchasing power and constantly growing population are the key factors that will generate higher demand and will result in the increase of 1 crore units per year by the year 2030.
Honda is also catering to the needs of their customers and developing products according to the needs and preferences of the consumers by improving the fuel economy of ICE vehicles, and providing innovation in the electric two wheeler mobility.
