Prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It is expected that more than 100 new launches will be undergoing across automobiles, component products and EV technologies.

PM Modi recalls the legacy of the Late Ratan Tata, Chairman Emerticus, Tata Son and Late Osamu Suzuki, the former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation. He said that their legacy will inspire India’s sector. Now let’s discuss what he highlighted about EVs during the inauguration.

PM Modi addressed the growing demand for electric mobility in India. He stated that the sale of electric vehicles has increased by 640 times. He also revealed the last 10 years of electric sales figures and indicated the growth of the EV sector in India for making greener roads and sustainable mobility.

Growth of the Auto Industry

PM Modi also indicated the growth of the Auto sector with a healthy 12% expansion as compared to the last year, which is based on the large population of youth, increasing middle class and increase in the FDI investments.

Innovation in Solar Power and Energy Storage

PM Modi stated about the growing infrastructure of EVs and also talked about the innovations in Solar Power which can fulfill the growing demand for battery storage systems and also motivated to invest in startups to enter into the energy storage market which can lead to the growth of EV networks.

Electric Market Rise

He gave a brief analysis and stated some facts about India’s electric vehicle market, which has achieved about 2% of total car sales in 2023. He addressed the significant opportunities for growth especially with some developed EV companies like Tesla.

He even estimated that the growth of electric vehicles can be 8 times till the end of this century. The government will be installing more than 70,000 fast chargers to meet the demand of EV users.

Government Initiatives

The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s various new policies and reforms for the growth of the Auto sector, with a goal to make India a global economic powerhouse with significant contributions from the Auto and the automotive component industry.

PM Modi also discussed the strategies to construct 1,000 modern buildings with facilities for food, clean drinking water, toilets, parking and rest areas for drivers on all national highways, and all these will be implemented in the first phase of the new scheme.

2047 Vision

The Prime Minister is quite visionary as he has set goals of making India a developed nation by 2047 with the Auto industry playing an important role in achieving this target. Thus he knows the power of transport mobility is quite crucial in shaping the country’s economy.
