The Ultraviolette F77 enhances its performance thanks to the Gen3 firmware update.

Ultraviolette has just launched the performance update for their company’s top spec F77 electric motorcycle. Defined as Gen3 Powertrain Firmware, this update will enhance the core performance of the bike by making it sharper to respond on throttle inputs, which the company calls as Ballastic+, and will be available as standard to all existing F77 customers at no additional cost.

As per Ultraviolette, all these enhancements have been implemented after the F77 went on sale in Europe, as average speeds are much higher there and their users demand more energy from the system to realize the full capabilities of the F77.

Thermal Limits: To achieve this, the company extensively increased the thermal limits on its motor and motor controller to increase the duration just before the performance deration kicks in, which also results in increased torque figures, thus enhancing the core performance of the F77. However the company calls the update as Ballastic+, but the top mode at the TFT digital screen is still displayed as ‘Ballastic’. 

Ultraviolette asserts that this update enhances the bike's performance, resulting in a more engaging ride experience that emphasizes performance with quicker throttle responses and a powerful initial surge of power. The update has not brought any changes to the power and torque as it remains identical at 40 Hp and 100 Nm, as all major changes are implemented in the software which extracts optimum power from the motor. 

Ultraviolette F77 Gen3 firmware supports backward compatibility.

This technical update ensures backward compatibility which is applicable to all existing F77 variants.The Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) of the F77 is designed to process over 3,000 data points in real time.

This data is further interpreted by the bike’s software systems, which improves the drivetrain, tunes the motor controller and battery-management system to ensure a seamless throttle response. 

As per ultraviolette, these technical enhancements have made the F77 to generate more performance solely via software optimisation without updating the mechanics of the motor and battery.
