Honda has introduced a new, cost-effective battery rental plan for the Activa e, available for Rs 678 per month.

Honda has applied a new strategy to gain traction for their newly launched Activa e, as they have introduced a new cost-effective battery rental plan for the Activa e electric scooter. Starting at Rs 678 per month (+ GST), this new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) lite plan has a restriction of 20 kWh.

This makes the BaaS even more affordable as compared to the one which was earlier announced. 

Honda Activa e BaaS Plan 

Honda earlier introduced their BaaS plans starting from Rs 1,999 for the Basic Plan, with a limit up to 35 kWh per month, while the costlier Advance Plan comes at the cost of Rs 3,599 with a specified limit of 82 kWh limit per month. 

These plans are specifically for the Activa e, which is equipped with swappable battery technology. The battery swapping stations are exclusively created by Honda Motor Company, Japan, and are overseen by its subsidiary, Honda Power Pack Energy India.

This revised introductory BaaS plan has come after the starting plans were termed as expensive and practical. However, it is important to consider that BaaS plans are excluded from the asking price of the scooter. For the Activa e, the starting price is Rs 1.17 Lakh for the basic version, and it goes up to Rs 1.51 Lakh (Ex-Showroom) for the fully loaded model.

Honda Activa e: Understanding BaaS Packs 

Powering the Activa e is two 1.5 kWh swappable battery packs providing a significant claimed range of 102 Km on a single charge. Let’s understand their BaaS scheme with the help of a table. 

However, if we break down their BaaS scheme, it has several limitations when it comes to the overall usage of the BaaS plans. 

For example, the lite plan starts at Rs 678 per month amounting to a prescribed 600 Km per month of usage, with a dedicated mileage of 30 Km/kWh. Once the user goes beyond the 20 kWh limit, he will be charged at the rate of Rs 70 per kWh.

BASIC PLAN: For Rs 1,999 per month, the Basic plan allows for 1,040 Km of usage each month and delivers a mileage of 30 Km/kWh. Once the 35 kWh limit is reached, the company will charge a hefty Rs 35 per kWh.

DVANCED PLAN: At a cost of Rs 3,599 per month, this plan allows for 2,600 units of usage, boasting a mileage of 30 Km/kWh. Once the customer exceeds the prescribed limit, he will be charged Rs 35 per kWh. All the above mentioned prices are excluding GST.
