April 2026 EV Sales | Best Selling EVs as Vahan Data
The first month of new FY2027 has delivered impressive retail sales for the month of April. The demand for zero emission electric cars and SUVs has also shown a significant growth from 8% in April 2025 to 10% in April 2026, while the e-CV share has witnessed a drop to 0.93% from 0.53% around a year ago.
The Vahan dashboard has also registered a total of 2,39,025 EVs two and three-wheeler passenger and commercial vehicle segments in April 2026, as it recorded a 41% YoY increase. Below we have mentioned the electric cars performance for the month of April 2026.

April Sales Projections
- Tata Motors has solidified its position at number one position with more than 36% of India's EV market share, followed by Mahindra and JSW MG Motors, which holds 23.2% and 21.5% respectively.
- Vinfast has shown considerable growth by jumping to the fourth position and grabbing 5.3% of the market share. Maruti is also racing ahead with 5.3% of market share by selling 1,230 electric cars in the month of April.
- Hyundai and Kia India have fallen to 6th and 8th position with a significant market share of 2.2% and 1.5% respectively. BYD India has shown a marginal increase in sales and has acquired 7th spot with a market share of 2%.
