BYD introduces a new 1000kW fast charger that can provide a range of 400 kilometers in just 5 minutes.

The most critical issue in the world of electric cars is the prolonged charging time taken by the cars to charge as many EV users have to restrict their movement due to this. 

BYD has addressed this and introduced their new 1000 kW charging system that can provide a healthy range of 400 Km in just 5 minutes, which is twice the speed of Tesla’s V4 charger. Sounds Unreal!! But BYD claims they have done it. 

BYD has also developed an all new battery that can seamlessly integrate such a high-power charger and can provide 400 Km of massive range in just five minutes of charging. This charging system is developed on a Super E-Platform first used in BYD Han L and Tang L models. 

BYD's Super e-Platform’s Advanced Battery & Motors

Advanced Battery: BYD has defined the new blade battery as ‘Flash Charge’ as it uses the Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. However, the battery capacity is not revealed but BYD says that they have extensively developed a 10C multiplier. 

According to BYD’s claims, this charging multiplier has capability to give a single-digit (5-minute) charging speeds, as high C-rate is directly proportional to fast charging speeds. 

1000 kW BYD Charger: BYD claims that in their updated BYD Han L sedan and Tang L models, the battery ensures high levels of charging powers, generating up to 600 kW even at 90% state of charge.  

The all-new batteries are also integrated with the 1000 kW BYD charger, developed exclusively by BYD in order to enhance their charging infrastructure. The Chinese manufacturer is also planning to integrate these high-capacity chargers across 4,000 BYD charging stations in China. 

High-Tech Electric Motors

The Super E-Platform is also equipped with high powered motors, generating up to 30,511 Rpm. BYD has claimed that the power generated from these motors is the highest energy produced by any electric motor. 

BYD Tang L and Han L EVs are the latest offering by the company to get integrated with the Super e-Platform, as they are powered by a 788 HP rear motor and 312 HP front motor, combining a total power of 1,100 HP. 

This results in 0-100 Kph in just 2.7 seconds for the Han L and 3.6 seconds for the Tang L. BYD also offers other variants with an option of a 680 HP RWD motor in both of these models. 

BYD’s latest technology has just revolutionized the electric automotive industry, with the latest advancements and constant evolution in batteries, EVs will soon be the major source of transportation and will completely replace the traditional ICE cars.
