Ford Everest Launch delayed in India due to company focussing on EV Strategy

Those eagerly waiting for Ford Everest (Endeavour) to launch in India have to wait more as the launch of the Ford Everest in India has been delayed, as the company has changed its focus towards development of electric vehicles and this has hit a roadblock for Ford Endeavour in India. 

According to reports, Ford has currently put all the plans for India on hold, but the company keeps on updating its entry in India by restarting the manufacturing operations in India. But due to a strategic shift in the company’s plans, the launch of Endeavour in India is now uncertain. 

Ford Endeavour was spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times, which raised the speculation among Ford enthusiasts in the country about its comeback. It was also reported that the internationally acclaimed SUV will be coming to India via CBU route till late 2025 or early 2026, followed by in-house production after some time. However there is a change in plans due to various geopolitical yet strategic factors. 

When will Ford Return to India? 

The return of Ford in India is uncertain as global tariffs have also impacted the brand’s entry into the Indian markets and thus has put a hold on its potential entry, which was about to happen at the end of 2025. 

Ford has also shifted its focus towards developing their EV lineups for the global markets and for this, the American manufacturer is currently reevaluating its investments and timelines for the Indian automotive industry.

Ford’s Dedicated EV Strategy

The company has applied this major global shift in Ford’s electrification strategy, as Ford is concentrating on developing their EV vehicles for global markets. The major focus of the company is towards providing EVs for the domestic as well as export markets. So just exclusively manufacturing Endeavour alone might not make sense to them. 

On the other hand, Ford India is actively recruiting for engineering teams specifically to work in their Chennai plant. The brand’s main area of interest lies in exports and fulfilling its long-term EV objectives. Thus Ford’s return to India by launching its Endeavour SUV doesn’t align with their strategies. 

This is bad news for Ford enthusiasts in the country who are waiting eagerly for the company’s return as they may have to wait for a longer time, for the widely acclaimed Endeavour SUV to again rule the Indian roads as there is a lot of uncertainty regarding this. We can only hope for their speedy returns!!
