Honda has revealed its smallest electric vehicle, the N-One e, marking it as the tiniest electric car in Honda's collection. This introduction has come after the company revealed about their concept which will be based on a futuristic Super EV, which is slated to be introduced in 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but unlike its sportier version, the N-One is specifically designed for every-day urban commuting.
The car will be first launched in Japan and could arrive in retail stores by September, followed by the UK launch currently in the pipeline.
Honda N-One e Design
The Honda N-One e visually reflects the design principles of the brand's Super EV concept, albeit with slight modifications for a contemporary appearance. It gets a retro boxy type design with circular headlamps and a curvy front bumper.
There are various EV inserts like the front grille is closed off and gets neat integration of the charging port, as this helps the small electric cars to optimise the aerodynamic efficiency. However, the company has not given the exact dimensions of the car, expect the N-One to have a length of 3,400 mm, which is at par with Japan’s car regulations.
Thus its upright stance, compact dimensions, and minimalistic styling positions it as a perfect small EV catered for urban needs and for those consumers looking for a simple hatchback doing daily city duties.
Honda N-One e Features
On the inside, Honda has given a clean yet functional look. The N-One e gets physical buttons for controlling various functions, a rotary dial, with a small shelf placed below the digital driver’s display for added space. There is also an addition of a 50:50 folding rear seat for extra boot space, which is an important feature especially for compact city cars.
Other technological features comprises Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) tech, which allows users to convert their EVs as a power source to charge their electrical appliances, using the car’s battery to charge the electrical equipment. However, to enable this feature, it requires an extra adapter that is available at exclusive Honda’s accessory outlets.
Honda N-One e Technical Specs
The technical specifications for the Honda N-One e have not been announced by Honda, but it is likely that the N-One will be built on the same platform as the Honda N-Van e. This could potentially offer a range of up to 245 Km on one charge.
Talking about the N-Van e, it also supports 50 kW DC fast charging, with an ability to charge the batteries in a 30-minute, as all these features will be identical to the N-One e.
According to various reports, the N-One e is expected to produce a peak power of 63 Bhp, which is perfect for inter-city runs, as its budget consumers will not be expecting performance in this segment, instead the importance will be more towards efficiency, reliability and low maintenance.
