The success of Mahindra BE 6 has established a foundation for the company in the field of electric mobility. From its futuristic looks to its driving dynamics, the BE 6 emerges as a unique electric car from the competition. Our AllAboutEVs team did Mahindra BE6 ownership review and got in touch with Denshu, who has driven his Mahindra BE 6 Pack 3 Select for more than 8,500 Km in the span of four months.

We enquired with the owner and recorded his ownership experience with the car as he provided all the details regarding service cost, daily performance, and how it is to live with this futuristic electric SUV.

Why did he choose Mahindra BE 6?

The owner Denshu was looking for a replacement of his eight-year old petrol hatchback and the reason he selected the BE 6 was the breathtaking performance of the electric SUV. According to him, the car is purely a driver’s car as it provides exceptional acceleration and power that easily pushes you into the sporty seats.

Despite its wide proportions, the car handles really well as the steering is accurate and precise. Thus the sporty steering and instant power delivery makes it a fun-to-drive electric SUV, which can easily outnumber the ICE engines.

Mahindra BE 6 Real Range, Charging & Battery Health

RANGE: One of the biggest deciding factors while buying an EV is range and the 59 kWh battery pack which eradicates range anxiety. According to the owner, in heavy city traffic with A/C on, the SUV delivers a real-world range of 350-380 Km on a single charge. On open highways, maintained at the speed of 80 km/hr, the range jumps to 400-450 Km.

Highways  400-450 Km

CHARGING: When it comes to charging at home at Rs 6.5 per unit, the running costs are significantly less at just Rs 1 per Km. However, charging through a 60 kW public fast charger, 20-80% of charge is completed in 30-40 minutes.

However, the owner also advised to regularly maintain the 20-80% daily charging cycle for optimum battery health, while he occasionally charges to 100% SOC only to ensure proper cell balancing.

Mahindra BE 6 Cabin Features & Minor Issues

On the inside, the BE 6 is just a reflection of the advanced technology as the beautiful double-screen setup is seamless to operate without any lag. The owner also found the audio system to be fantastic and pleasing to the ears with built-in active noise cancellation, which works flawlessly, as it rolls up the windows and blocks out unnecessary honking and road noise.

ISSUES: The owner also reported some issues with the car. The Pack 3 Select variant does not come with ambient lighting, which feels like a shocking miss in this segment.

On the other hand, the interiors are equipped with piano black plastic, which is prone to scratches, which forces the owner to install a paint protection film (PPF) inside the cabin. The center console is also oddly designed as it is out of reach sometimes.

Mahindra BE 6 Service Experience, ADAS, & Software

If we talk about ADAS, it is very well calibrated in the BE 6, specifically for the Indian roads. The occupant monitoring system works as expected, although sometimes it's a bit overprotective, as it applies sudden brakes, if it mistakenly assumes the driver is feeling sleepy. The car’s software is very smooth, but the companion app needs some update as the remote camera viewing fails frequently.

Service: The owner appreciated the service experience of Mahindra as the service staff are highly responsive and the general maintenance cost remains nominal ranging between Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500.

The Final Verdict

The owner was very happy and satisfied with the purchase. The Mahindra BE 6 Pack 3 Select is priced at approximately Rs 26 lakhs on-road in Delhi, which just makes it a complete package. However, the owner did feel that the adaptive suspension was slightly on the stiffer side, especially at low speeds and the mobile app requires an update for smooth functioning.

But with its sporty driving feel, sharper handling, low-running costs, and futuristic design, it is undeniably a fantastic choice for those wanting everything in their electric car.
