Indian Electric manufacturers are thoroughly updating their electric cars with every launch as the consumer’s expectations with electric cars are constantly rising. Hyundai began the new year with the launch of their highly anticipated Creta Electric at the Auto Expo 2025. MG also launched their premium electric MPV M9 EV and even luxury segments like Mercedes are properly updating their electric line-up.
The competition is getting intense and going by that, Maruti Suzuki, one of the biggest Indian auto manufacturers, is going to debut in the electric vehicle market with their upcoming E-Vitara. The constantly rising demand for EVs have inspired many players to enter the field of EVs and with their exciting launches, let’s discuss five most-awaited new electric cars launching in 2025.
Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara
Expected Launch: September 2025
Every EV enthusiast is excited with the entry of Maruti Suzuki in the EV space, as the company is known for providing increased efficiency and reliability through its wide dealership network. E-Vitara will be the first offering from the manufacturer and is one of the most awaited cars in the list as it was also displayed at the Auto Expo 2025 in a production ready version.
The E-Vitara is set to feature battery packs of 49 kWh and 61 kWh, boasting a remarkable range of over 500 Km, making it an excellent choice for city driving. Expected to arrive on Indian shores in September 2025, the E-vitara has already started to arrive at Maruti’s dealerships.
VinFast VF6
Expected Launch: August 2025
The VF6 is a completely new product with Vietnamese roots as VinFast will be soon introducing its latest VF6 SUV to the Indian market, as pre-bookings are already started. This SUV will be offered with two variants called Eco and Plus. Both variants are powered by the same 59.6 kWh battery pack.
The Eco variant produces a top power output of 178 BHP and achieves a peak torque of 250 Nm, boasting a certified WLTP range of as much as 399 Km. The Plus variant will be producing a higher power output of 204 BHP with a strong torque of 310 Nm. The VF6 will be going against the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE6.
Mahindra XEV 7e
Expected Launch: December 2025
Mahindra is eagerly waiting to launch its highly anticipated XEV 7e in the country as it has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads. This electric SUV will be positioned exactly between BE 6 and XEV 9e.
The XEV 7e will be underpinned on Mahindra’s modular INGLO skateboard platform and will be sharing its battery packs with the BE 6 and XEV 9e, as it will be powered by the same 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options, providing an expected range of more than 600 Km, which just makes it an ideal choice for highway runs.
VinFast VF7
Expected Launch: August 2025
The VF7 is the grown up version of its smaller sibling, the VF6 and is slated to reach Indian markets in August. The Vietnamese manufacturer will provide a powerful 75.3 kWh battery pack for this heavy SUV. The pre-bookings for the VF7 have already started.
Coming with the same variants as the VF 6, in the Eco Trim, it will generate a peak power output of 204 BHP and a decent torque of 310 Nm, providing an expected range of 450 Km on a single charge.
The high-end Plus variant will feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, producing an impressive power output of 354 BHP and 500 Nm of industry-leading torque. However, with the enhanced performance, there is a slight drip on range which is just restricted to 431 Km on a single charge.
Tata Sierra EV
Expected Launch: December 2025
One of the most anticipated electric SUVs from Tata Motors with a touch of nostalgia, as Tata is bringing back the heritage Sierra with modern looks and updated electric powertrains. The interiors of the Sierra will be heavily upgraded and will feature three screens running from the driver till the co-driver’s side.
Tata has underpinned the new Sierra on their latest Gen 2 architecture, but they have heavily re-engineered it to extract more power from the electric motors. Expected to launch till the end of this year, it would be interesting to see what technological advancements it will be featuring in the whole package.
