BYD Sealion 7 scores a top rating of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP.
Euro NCAP has just announced the crash test details of the BYD Sealion 7 SUV. The electric SUV scored a top rating of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test, making the entry in the list of safe electric cars available in India.
Crash Test Results
The Sealion 7 scored 87% in adult occupant, the child occupant was rated at 93%, and vulnerable users were rated as 76%, whereas the safety assist scored 79%.
The BYD Sealion 7 SUV is equipped with ISOFIX mounts and a child presence detection system, which, as the name implies, identifies whether a child is in the vehicle, and gives warnings to the driver about rear seat belts.
The Sealion 7 was scrutinized through a variety of crash tests and results declared that it provided good safety to the driver and passengers in the front offset crash test. However, the tests also concluded that it has a weak protection for rear passengers in the full-wide rigid barrier test.
The Sealion 7 scored maximum points in the barrier and pole crash test. According to Euro NCAP, it has a good overall protection under the whiplash test, proving it to be a reliable and safe product.
Although the Sealion 7 has impressive results in the passenger protection tests, the car still needs improvement in the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) braking system as it scores 76% in the pedestrian and cyclist safety test.
BYD Sealion 7 Battery & Performance
The BYD Sealion 7 comes with two variants to choose from: Premium and Performance variant. Both variants are equipped with a 82.56 kWh battery pack, producing a peak power of 313 HP and 380 Nm of torque.
The Performance variant is powered by an AWD system, which generates 530 HP of power and 690 Nm of peak torque.
BYD Sealion 7 Price & Competition
The BYD Sealion 7 is available in India at a starting price of Rs 48.90 Lakh (Ex-Showroom), and goes till Rs 54.90 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Sealion 7 will face healthy competition with the Kia EV6 and the BMW iX1 LWB, in the Indian market.
