Maruti Suzuki is all set to hit the Indian EV industry with the launch of its first electric car, the E-Vitara on December 2. The company will be offering the E-Vitara with two battery pack options in India which includes a smaller 49 kWh battery pack and the substantial 61 kWh battery pack. 

These batteries are powered by an electric motor mounted at the front, but the larger 61 kWh battery pack is integrated with a dual-motor setup, integrated with the AWD technology, also defined as AllGrip-E by Suzuki. 

POWER: The E-Vitara FWD will be generating a maximum power of 144 HP with the smaller 49 kWh battery pack, while the substantial 61 kWh battery pack will produce a healthy 174 Hp of maximum power. 

The top of the line AWD version will be coming with an extra electric motor attached to the rear, making a combined power of 184 HP.

Maruti E-Vitara Expected Range

The e-Vitara’s 61 kWh FWD returns the highest range at 428 Km on a single charge as per WLTP cycle, with the AWD versions standing at 394 Km. The base model with a 49 kWh FWD will be providing 344 Km of range. As per reports, Maruti Suzuki will be introducing only the FWD e-Vitara to the Indian markets as the AWD versions are scheduled to be launched at a later stage.

The company has not revealed the official prices but it is expected that the top spec 61 kWh 2WD version will be costing around Rs 25 lakh. However, the base 49 kWh variant will be launched in the price bracket of Rs 20 lakh, which could position the e-Vitara against already established rivals like Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6
