Honda ALPHA named as Brand’s next Electric SUV: Launch Date, Battery Specs & Global Debut
Honda has officially named its first ever electric SUV for the Indian market as the Honda Alpha. The company has dropped “0” from the 0 Alpha concept showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in late 2025. Honda is gearing for a global introduction in India on December 2, 2026.
Honda Alpha Battery & Range
Honda has not revealed the exact technical specifications until the December debut. However, it is expected to be offered with two distinct battery pack options.
The company will be focussing on stability and cost-effectiveness, as both packs will be powered by Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, and ignoring the costly NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery.

BATTERY: Honda could equip the ALPHA between 65 kWh and 75 kWh. This expected capacity can smartly position the ALPHA to offer competitive range figures that can easily provide urban commutes and long-weekend highway stretches.
The Alpha is expected to come with a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup, featuring a single motor catered for efficiency and balanced driving dynamics.

A Fresh Identity: The New 'H' Mark
The ALPHA is not just the first electric SUV from the brand but it will also come with a distinctive visual identity. The midsize electric SUV will be the first model to come with Honda’s redesigned ‘H’ mark logo. It will be a sleeker, retro-inspired badge which has been earlier adopted globally for Honda’s next-generation electric lineup, hinting at a major turning point in the brand’s design language.

It is expected to come with a 2700-2800mm wheelbase , upright stance, and new LED signatures showcased at the concept. The ALPHA has also been designed to enhance maximum cabin space.
Honda ALPHA Expected Competition
When it is officially launched, it will create stiff competition in the midsize electric SUV category, which is rapidly expanding and the ALPHA will have no shortage of challenges.
Upon launch, it will be going against established rivals including:
- Mahindra BE 6
- Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
- Hyundai Creta Electric
- Tata Sierra EV
- Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella
- MG ZS EV
