The next generation Honda City will have revolutionary design changes as the new City will be heavily underpinned by Honda’s radical 0 Series sedan concept, showcased at the Japan Mobility show. The final production version of the electric 0 Series sedan will be positioned as the flagship in Honda's global EV lineup.

It will be incorporating new design characteristics and is expected to be extensively used on Honda’s upcoming sedans. However, the sixth-generation Honda City will be arriving at an important time where midsize sedans are losing their market share in the overall sales.

Next-Generation Honda City Design: More than a Revolution

According to various sources and recent design mock-ups, the next-gen Honda City has a striking resemblance to the 0 Series sedan. There could be radical design changes which include sleeker yet a sportier angular shape and a more sharper stance.

Apart from this, the most interesting design attribute could be an addition of a front quarter glass just like on the legendary Lamborghini Countach. Although, the ‘pop-up’ headlamps will not be carried over due to modern safety norms.

Next Generation Honda City Architecture

The next-generation Honda City is expected to be based on Honda’s new PF2 modular platform, which is specifically developed for small and midsize cars, which has been defined as PF2. The new platform will be providing higher body rigidity and is around 90 Kg lighter than the current platform, which is impressive.

Honda’s strategy of weight saving will probably add to the company’s signature ‘Joy of Driving’ that Honda wants to implement in its future models as more than 60% of components will be carried over to the vehicles underpinned from PF2, thus streamlining the production by keeping costs in check.

Next Generation Honda City: Could it come with Electric Power?

The company says that this multi-energy platform will result in faster and efficient battery charging, stronger energy regeneration and could integrate compact and economical battery packs, thus making hybrids more cost-effective.

As we know that the upcoming Honda city will be based on the 0 Series platform, there is a speculation that Honda could launch the electric version of the City with its sixth-generation. However, the company has not claimed anything at the moment, but integrating the new city with an electric platform clearly means that Honda could use electric power in its sixth-generation City.
