Honda Introduces the E-VO, the company’s first electric motorcycle

Honda has revealed its first all-electric motorcycle, the E-VO, which is presently aimed at the Chinese market. This cutting-edge motorcycle has been developed in conjunction with Honda’s local ally, Guangzhou. The new motorcycle is inspired by the traditional cafe-racer styled design language packed with a blend of modern features. It will be sold in China under the Wuyang-Honda stores.
Design
Visually, the design of the E-VO looks very subtle yet traditional, which will attract a lot of consumers. The e-motorcycle gets an iconic round headlamp and features a bubble-type fairing that is integrated with the other panels. The bike gets full-faired styling and has a boxy shaped overall design.
The E-VO is available with a single-piece seat and features hardware like clip-on handlebars with unique mirrors on the side which gives the electric motorcycle a robust look. Honda has equipped the E-VO with 16-inch front and 14-inch rear alloy wheels, thus making it ideal for off-roading conditions.
Honda E-VO Battery & Performance
The Honda E-VO will be available with an option of two variants for the consumers to choose from. This electric motorcycle is powered by Honda’s PMS electric motor generating 20.5 BHP of max power. Honda has utilized forged aluminium chassis with battery covered under side panels. It even gets three driving modes and power is divided in these modes with options for users to extract power according to their needs.
Honda will equip the E-VO with 4.1 kWh and 6.3 kWh battery pack options providing a significant range of 120 Km and 170 Km (WMTC) respectively. The smaller battery pack variant’s kerb weight is rated at 143 Kg integrated with dual batteries and can be effectively charged in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Powered by a triple battery system, the larger variant of 6.3 kWh has a weight of 156 Kg. The bigger battery pack ensures a longer charging time at 2 hours and 30 minutes.
If we talk about modern features in the E-VO, it includes various new age features such as front dash cam as standard feature and also gets rear dash cam, but exclusively on the higher spec variant.
FEATURES: The electric bike will also feature a coloured TFT instrument display integrated with navigation, music control, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The Honda E-VO is currently priced at 37,000 Yuan (Approx Rs 4.39 Lakh) in China. However, the company has shown no excitement about bringing the all-electric bike in India at the current moment, but can reconsider its decision, considering the evolving market of electric motorcycles segment.
Currently, Honda is prioritizing the placement of their latest electric products, OC1 and Activa e, in the electric two-wheeler market.
