Hyundai India Investment 2026: USD 15.5 Billion Blueprint for EV & Auto Ecosystem Growth
Hyundai Motor Group has announced a comprehensive investment for India, amounting to USD 15.5 billion from 2026 through 2032. This massive investment will be specifically positioned for India as a strategic core market for Group’s future vision, market expansion, and next-generation automotive innovation.
This initiative was discussed in a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hyundai Group’s Executive Chair, Euisun Chung. The Group projected a blueprint, thus initiating a massive investment.
Hyundai Group Investment: Where will be the Funds Allocated?
Hyundai is setting up a dedicated investment entity, which will operate as the financial command center ensuring that the funds are seamlessly allocated to these four major sectors.

1. Massive Manufacturing Expansion
- Hyundai and Kia are major players in the Indian market, as they are currently producing 1.4 million vehicles across its facilities such as Chennai, Pune, and Anantpur.
- Hyundai is planning to expand the manufacturing operations (such as the new Pune Plant).
- The goal is not just to increase the domestic demand, but transforming India into a big global export market for the brand.
2. $700 Million Bet on R&D and Tech
- Hyundai will be investing a total of $700 million specifically for the Indian R&D center and extensive vehicle testing tracks. Thus by enhancing local engineering technology, the Group is all set to transform India into a core global innovation hub for next-generation mobility.

3. Strengthening the Local Supply Chain
- Hyundai has made a counter-strategy by promoting heavy localisation. The group is making strategic investments to reignite regional partners, boost parts localisation, and build a developed supply-chain ecosystem within the country.
4. Pioneering Future Mobility and EVs
- Hyundai will be also investing in India’s future mobility ecosystem. This includes development of EVs.
- Integrating new mobility services into their core vehicle business.
- Funding high-potential mobility startups.
- Expanding EV charging infrastructure.
- Developing specialised automotive financing and end-of-life vehicle recycling programs.

The Road Ahead
India is currently one of the fastest growing automotive markets in the world. For Hyundai, the Indian market is not just an attractive sales market, but an important pillar for mid-to-long-term global strategy, especially when the global mobility is experiencing a massive shift towards electric mobility.
