Hyundai is constantly updating its EV lineup as it has showcased the first teaser of its upcoming electric concept car, ahead of its global debut next month scheduled at Munich Motor Show. Hyundai could rebrand the new EV as Ioniq 2, which is the most compact car in the entire Ioniq series. This EV will be a perfect electric choice for the Bayon crossover.
The production version of Ioniq 2 could share its design philosophy with Kia’s upcoming EV 2.
Hyundai New Electric Concept: What Changes to Expect?
Hyundai has defined the upcoming concept with their new philosophy called ‘Forward Thinking Vision’ which will be underpinning the brand’s completely new ‘Art Of Steel’ design language as implemented on the next generation Santa Fe.
However, the teaser images do not shed anything concise about the car, but displays a hint at a lip spoiler attached to the rear with a thin LED bar located at the front, which resembles the Ioniq 6.
DESIGN: However, the camouflaged prototypes of the upcoming EV have also been tested globally, and as per pictures it could share the same dimensions with Bayon. The design is pretty crossover with a raked rear windscreen featuring a higher ground clearance.
INTERIORS: Hyundai will be totally changing the interiors and will design them to offer usability by providing storage functionality. As per various reports, Hyundai could feature the new EV with an all-new panoramic widescreen infotainment system which will be including elements such as ambient lighting and noise, which could be changed depending on different driving style and particular mode your car will be running on.
Hyundai State-Of-The-Art Electric Concept Battery & Platform
The upcoming concept will underpin Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, which is used to engineer nearly every Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models excluding the EV2. However the smaller EV could share its powertrains with the substantially bigger Kia EV3, incorporating 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh battery pack options with WLTP certified range of 430 Km and 600 Km on a single charge, respectively.
Both battery packs are paired with a front-axle mounted motor which generates a maximum power output of 204 HP and a peak torque of 283 Nm.
Hyundai is thinking to smartly utilize their small EV by positioning them between Inster and Kona electric, thus making its dedicated EV lineup strong and filling the huge gap by catering according to the audience looking for EVs in this price range.
This new EV will be the company’s sixth EV added to the existing lineup and will be going against the likes of Renault 4, Volvo EX30, and its sibling, the Kia EV2. Hyundai’s all-new electric concept is expected to go on floors in the third quarter of 2026.
