Kia has introduced their PV5 as their first EV in the commercial segment. Kia will be showcasing it at its 2025 EV Day Event. Kia will be providing the PV5 van in passenger and Cargo body styles. The passenger version will be housing rear seats, but the cargo will not have that option.

It will be Kia’s first Van offering in the EV segment, as Kia has used a new platform called Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), which will serve as a platform to design all-electric multi-purpose utility vehicles targeted for commercial and private use.

The PV5 will be available in two designs: Passenger and Cargo. We are quite impressed by the van's look as it gets a clean yet conventional van like proportions. The overall design will be the same, as the cargo will get an accessibility of increased luggage space over the option of rear seats.

NOTE: Both PV5 body styles will get a different type of Tailgates.

  • It even gets high-mounted angular LED strips, which can be also used as indicators
  • The main headlight is situated at a lower side, complimenting the futuristic looks of the van.
  • The charging port of PV5 is located at the center of the fascia, equipped with a front-facing camera above it and a big radar sensor underneath it.
  • Kia has heavily styled the PV5 with plastic body cladding all around its lower half to give it a robust commercial carrier look. It even gets chunky mirrors and a large glass area for better visibility.
  • The rear of the PV5 gets a single lift-up boot lid for the passenger, while the cargo body style gets dual, side-opening tailgate doors.

Kia has only showcased the van’s exterior looks, as they have reserved this to display on the company’ EV Day on 27 February.  However the dashboard of the PV5 is expected to come with two separate screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system.

Competition

The Kia PV5 can be pitted against Volkswagen ID Buzz in the international markets. At the current stage, Kia has not cleared whether they will be launching the PV5 in India, but the company’s 2025 EV Day can shed more light on this.
