Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce their all-electric MPV specifically for the family segment. A heavily camouflaged version of Maruti’s upcoming MPV, codenamed as YMC. Let’s break down the key design details revealed by the spy shots about its design, features and battery specifications.

Maruti Suzuki YMC Expected Design

Visually, the YMC test version gets an upright, boxy design and a classic MPV stance that comes with enhanced headroom and three-row convenience. However, it also gets specific EV styling cues that stand out:

  • Distinctive Front Fascia: As its a born-electric vehicle, the MPV features a clean, blanked-off grille. It also gets wraparound LED headlamps, which has a striking resemblance to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

  • Signature Lighting: This electric MPV features daytime running lamps (DRLs) that stretch downward, complemented by a connecting element that unifies the two headlamp clusters. Yet the manufacturer remains silent on whether an illuminated LED strip or refined chrome accent will be incorporated.
  • Aero-Optimized Bumper: The front bumper houses a slim air intake, and gets a much wider air dam placed at the bottom for battery cooling.
  • Squared-off Stance: The side profile gets squared-off wheel arches and a substantial glass area, ensuring that the cabin feels airy for rear passengers.
  • Rear: At the rear, there is an addition of a full-width LED bar integrated with a clear lens design integrated with a bumper housing slim reflectors. However, a roof spoiler is missing from the prototype, not sure, whether it will be coming or not.

Maruti Suzuki YMC Interior Details

Apart from the exterior highlights, the YMC is expected to feature a connected-screen setup that is also seen in the e-Vitara. This modern dual-screen setup comes with a digital driver instrument cluster and the center infotainment system, giving the dashboard a clean and minimalistic appearance.

Maruti Suzuki YMC Battery & Range

POWER: Buyers of this electric MPV can choose between two battery capacities—49 kWh or the more substantial 61 kWh pack (similar to what powers the e-Vitara). Regardless of choice, both versions harness a front-mounted electric motor capable of generating 189 Nm of peak torque.

The smaller 49 kWh battery pack will produce around 144 Hp, while the larger battery pack will generate a punchier 174 Hp.

RANGE: The e-Vitara comes with an impressive ARAI-certified range of 440 Km and 543 Km, respectively for the smaller and larger battery packs. However, the YMC will have larger dimensions, boxier aerodynamics and heavier curb weight, expect real-world range figures to be slightly lower than the e-Vitara.
