MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV Drivetrains Options & Hybrid Modes Explained
MG Motor has finally launched the country’s first mass-market Plug-in Hybrid, Hector Tomahawk PHEV in the Indian market alongside its EV version. This electric PHEV returns a combined range of 1,100 Km on a fully charged battery and petrol.
However, we will be explaining the detailed powertrains of the Hector Tomahawk PHEV and how this technology works.
What is a Plug-in Hybrid?
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV comes with a Plug-in hybrid, which includes a 1.5-litre engine running on the Atkinson cycle, which acts as a power source for the battery and runs the SUV purely on ICE mode.

The Engine is also integrated with a 20.5 kWh battery pack, which is capable of driving the SUV purely on EV mode and can also work together with the petrol engine for added boost and range, while on the move.
With the Plug-in Hybrid setup, you can charge the battery like a traditional EV and not be dependent on the engine to charge the battery, which practically transforms the SUV into an EV as well.
