Nissan has just introduced an all-electric version of its latest offering Micra, exclusively launching it in European markets. In the trend of SUVs, Nissan is still concentrating on small hatchbacks. Nissan has unveiled an all-new sixth generation Micra, which is based on the same platform as Renault 5 E-Tech, however there are subtle design changes and EV badging in the new generation Micra.

New Micra EV Design

Nissan's design center in Europe has meticulously developed the Micra, addressing the preferences of urban consumers. The company has gone all new this time, ditching the same old conservative design language. The revamped design highlights a daring aesthetic with seamlessly integrated round headlights and taillights.

The LED lighting also gets a specific ‘Wink’ animation, the moment someone locks or unlocks the car. The design of the car is like a hatchback but it borrows characteristics of SUVs like black body cladding present on the bumpers, side arches and wheel profiles, giving it a bold robust look.

All variants are equipped with 18-inch wheels and are available with 14 colour options to choose from, including two-tone colours with black and grey roofs attached on the top.

New Micra EV Interiors

If we talk about interiors, the dashboard has pretty much similarities with the Renault 5 E-Tech. There is an addition of dual 10.1-inch digital displays present at the center of the dashboard.

Nissan has revised the interiors here to highlight their brand presence by adding unique inserts such as Mount Fuji outline at the front seats to make it distinctive from others.

Micra EV Battery & Performance

Built on the CMF-BEV-based AmpR Small Platform, Nissan has introduced the Micra. The Micra comes with a Base version and a Higher-Spec version.

Base Version: The base version is powered by a 40 kWh battery pack, which produces 121 Bhp of maximum power and provides a significant range of 308 Km on a single charge.

Higher Spec Version: The top-spec model gets a larger 52 kWh battery pack, generating a peak power of 148 Bhp, thus increasing the range to 408 Km.

The bigger 52 kWh battery comes with a support of 100 kW DC fast charging which has the capability to charge the batteries from 15-80% in just 30 minutes. Both variants get the feature of battery heating and cooling functions, heat pump, Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) technology which makes the Micra as a power source to charge other electronic devices.

Expected India Launch

Introduced in Europe, The new micra is expected to launch in Europe sometime by late 2025. However, Nissan has not revealed the exact prices but it will be priced slightly more expensive than Renault 5 E-Tech and will cost around 22.5 Lakhs (Approximately).

The mentioned prices clearly state that Nissan wants to position Micra EV in a premium segment. The company’s lineup will further include cars like the new Juke and next generation Leaf inspired crossover.

However, if we talk about the India launch, Nissan has clarified nothing on Micra EV’s expected launch, but the rising demand of compact EV cars brings hopes of the car’s potential launch in India. Going by the rising demand, The Micra EV can be a perfect product for the company to enter into the rising Indian EV industry.
