Ola Electric submits a patent for a compact car Design.
Ola Electric Mobility has submitted a new design patent application for a new four-wheeler electric car which is expected to be the brand’s first electric car. However, its exact dimensions are not revealed, it is expected that Ola’s EV will have a striking resemblance to that of MG Comet EV, though it will be a strict 2-door.
On the other hand, Ola has teased the electric sedan concept and patent images showcasing its design. However, the electric car is currently in the development phase and kept on hold as the brand is focussing on producing budget-oriented electric scooters.
New Ola EV Platform Details
It is expected that the new upcoming electric car will be underpinned by Ola’s new Gen 4 base. At the 2025 Sankalp event, Ola has stated that the modular platform can be used to design with 2 and 3-wheelers, alongside drones and humanoids, which will be generating economies of scale.
According to Ola, the platform will be supporting vehicles that are lighter and more energy-efficient and is also capable to integrate Ola’s self-developed and manufactured 4680 cells, and has also certified the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) approval. Its battery size and single-charge has not been revealed as of now.

Current Challenges
Currently, Ola is undergoing various complaints from customers regarding poor service quality and poor customer care and misleading information. There are certain reports which have reflected allegations of insider trading and various violations regarding trade certificates.
In the first six months of 2025, Ola’s sales have been reduced drastically by reducing by nearly half to 1,50,000 units from 2,29,000 units in the last year’s corresponding period, as per Vahan Data. The monthly sales have also declined significantly from approx 38,000 units to an all time low at 19,000 units.
The company’s share of the India’s electric two-wheeler market has also received a major fall from approximately 50% at its peak to around 20%, which just shows the power of negative word of mouth publicity as it has been taken over by its big legacy players such as TVS and Bajaj.
