Tata Punch EV Facelift Real-World Range Test Explained

Tata has recently launched the mid-life cycle facelift of the Punch EV and updated its battery pack with a 30 kWh and larger 40 kWh battery pack. We recently had a talk with the tester of the Punch EV facelift in order to know the real-world range he is able to extract with the electric SUV.

According to the tester, the Punch EV facelift provided a real-world range between 320-333 Km in mixed driving conditions. The tester shared his full experience after a day of driving the Punch EV facelift. He also tested the car extensively at the city and highways.

The tester took the Punch EV for an extensive ride through the narrow streets of Kochi, going through heavy traffic of the city and on highway stretches. Despite higher temperatures of 32 Degree, the car was easy to navigate in the city specifically due to lower center of gravity given by the 40 kWh battery placement.

After covering a total of 80 Km in mixed driving conditions, the tests were truly exceptional. The vehicle provided an average consumption of 120 Wh/km. If we do the calculations, this translates to a real world range figure of 333 Km on a single charge.

This number is a significant growth over its pre-facelift Punch, recording over 71% of the Punch EV facelift ARAI range figure of 468 Km, which is very close to the claimed numbers. The Punch EV facelift sits comfortably close to Tata’s C75 real-world claim of 350-355 Km.

Thus through putting the Punch EV Facelift battery specs and range in actual use through tough rigorous testing, the new Punch EV facelift has proved its mettle and has emerged as a well-rounded choice eradicating the range anxiety.
