Tata Motors finally took the wraps from its much-awaited Sierra SUV at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh. At the event, the company’s chief commercial officer, Vivek Srivastava confirmed that Sierra EV will be launched in RWD and AWD versions in 2026, unlike the Sierra ICE, which is expected to debut with the AWD configuration sometime in 2027.

Tata Sierra EV: Available in RWD & AWD

The Sierra EV is underpinned by the brand’s acti.ev+ platform, which comes with a multi-layer skateboard design which is developed specifically to support AWD configuration, faster charging, and inclusion of ADAS suite.

The Harrier EV is the first EV in the lineup to be developed on this platform and comes with rear-wheel-drive (RWD) as well as All-wheel-Drive (AWD) setups.

Srivastava further clarified that Sierra EV will be manufactured at the brand’s Sanand manufacturing facility with its petrol counterpart, which is similar to Nexon and Curvv. The plant’s capacity is soon expected to be increased extensively in order to increase the production of Sierra ICE models, which could be further enhanced to support the production capacity of the Sierra EV.

Tata Sierra EV Expected Battery Configuration

Tata Motors has not officially revealed the powertrain figures of the Sierra EV, but it is more likely to borrow the same battery configurations of the Curvv EV’s top of the line 55 kWh battery pack and the lower variants of the Harrier EVs 65 kWh battery pack.

POWER: The Curvv EVs 55 kWh battery pack is integrated with a front-axle mounted electric motor producing a maximum power output of 167 Hp, while the substantial 65 kWh battery pack of the Harrier EV generates a power of 238 Hp with its rear-axle mounted electric motor.

The Sierra EV will be positioned between the Curvv EV (Rs 17.49 lakh-21.99 lakh) and Harrier EV (Rs 21.49 lakh-29.48 lakh), just like its petrol counterpart. The Sierra EV could go against the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and the much-awaited Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
