The Tesla Model Y has been introduced in India with a price tag of Rs 59.89 Lakh.

Following a flurry of rumors and speculation, Tesla has officially launched in the Indian market with its top-selling electric SUV, the Model Y. The introductory price for the Model Y is set at Rs 59.89 Lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). Additionally, the company has inaugurated its first retail outlet in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.

Tesla has provided an option of RWD as well as Long Range RWD variants for the Indian consumers. The fully loaded top of the line Long-Range variant is available at a substantial cost of Rs 67.89 Lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). 

However, the company has provided a disclaimer which mentions that currently enabled features still require active driver supervision. The car will be also equipped with over-the-air updates in order to update the self-driving features. 

Tesla Model Y Design Updates

Tesla has added minor aesthetics to Model Y’s design to make it look modern and attractive, just like the Model 3. The Model Y gets a high stance, a panoramic glass roof, and a more rugged, coupe like silhouette. 

The changes to the exterior are quite minimal and it looks sophisticated yet simple from outside and features flush type door handles, sleek headlights, and an aerodynamic shape which ensures sharper handling and dynamics rather than providing gimmicky features. 

Tesla Model Y Technical Specifications

Tesla Model Y is available with an RWD (Rear-Wheel-Drive) version and is offered with 60 kWh and a substantial 75 kWh battery pack configurations. The Model Y is powered by a single motor churning a peak power of 295 HP. 

POWER: The smaller 60 kWh battery pack returns a WLTP claimed range of 500 Km on a single charge, while the top-spec longer range variant packed with a bigger 75 kWh battery pack returns an impressive range of 622 Km on a single charge. With a remarkable time of 5.9 seconds, the Model Y reaches 100 Km/hr from a standstill.

The Model Y also supports fast charging and has the ability to provide a range between 238-267 Km with just 15-minutes of supercharge. 

Tesla Model Y New Features

If we talk about features, the Model Y boasts a bigger 15.4-inch front infotainment screen, 8-inch rear display, power-adjustable front seats and steering column with dual-zone automatic climate control. It also comes equipped with 19-inch crossflow styled alloy wheels, fixed glass roof, acoustic glass and a rear powered tailgate.
