Emote Electric has showcased the Surge geared electric bike at the auto expo 2020.
The motorcycle looks quite unique thanks to its boxy styling.
But underneath that seemingly boring facade lies a trellis frame and an electric motor that generates 28Nm at 2800rpm.
The trellis frame also houses the 72V, 40Ah lithium-ion battery pack which offers a claimed range of 100km.
Emote will offer two extra batteries as a part of the accessory list.
They can be used to extract up to 300km on a single charge.
However, these battery packs weigh 26kg each, so installing three of them will considerably increase the bike’s weight.
This might have a negative effect on the electric bike’s dynamics as well.
The battery can be charged in 4 hours using a conventional charger.
It can even be charged completely in 30 minutes (claimed) using the optional fast charging feature.
The Emote Electric Surge comes with a telescopic front fork and a linked horizontal monoshock.
It comes to a halt using a 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear unit, both with ByBre calipers.
The brand is yet to finalise the launch date but we expect it to be launched by the end of this year.
Once launched, it will compete against the Revolt RV400, which is the only electric bike available in India at the moment.
