Blue Energy Motors & HPCL Launch New Electric Truck Battery Swapping Station Bhiwandi
In a bold move toward electrifying heavy-duty transport, Blue Energy Motors (BEM) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) have joined forces to establish a state-of-the-art battery swapping station in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra.
This establishment represents a key component of an alliance established in January 2026, which also encompasses the Mumbai-Pune Electric Freight Corridor—an innovative initiative rolled out by BEM in October 2025.
The 5-Minute EV Truck Battery Swap: How It Works
The Bhiwandi station is designed to swap out the big batteries of BEM’s electric trucks in under five minutes. Thus it will drastically reduce the downtime associated with energy replenishment, as fleet operators can manage the speed usually required in modern supply chains without leaving a massive carbon footprint.

- It is specifically focussed for heavy-duty electric trucks.
- The facility also comes with a public EV charging station. Thus whether you are riding an electric two-wheeler, driving a four-wheeler, or operating a light-commercial vehicle, this hub provides essential charging infrastructure in order to enhance EV ecosystem.

Expanding the Mumbai-Pune Electric Freight Corridor
The partnership between these two companies have also led to the expansion of the Mumbai-Pune Electric Freight Corridor, which Blue Energy introduced back in October 2025. However, after the announcement of their alliance with HPCL in January 2026, the two industry leaders are actively working on the development of electric freight mobility.
The CEO of EV & New Energy Business at Blue Energy Motors, expressed his thoughts on the strategy and said:

"Our focus at Blue Energy Motors is on making electric freight a practical and scalable reality in India. Our partnership with HPCL brings together our strengths to build the energy infrastructure needed to support this transition... This first facility is a meaningful step forward, and we look forward to expanding our network."
