Kia is all set to join the electric revolution by introducing their first all-electric version of the recently launched Kia Clavis in the Indian market on July 15. The Clavis EV will be the first all-electric model for Kia in India and will be positioned in a segment which has only one electric MPV, eMax 7. Set to compete with the upcoming Clavis EV, the BYD eMax 7 is offered at a price range of Rs 26.90 Lakh to Rs 29.90 Lakh (Ex-Showroom).

Kia Carens Clavis EV Battery & Performance

The Kia Clavis EV is expected to incorporate powertrains from the Hyundai Creta electric, providing options for 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs, along with a single electric motor attached to the front axle. Performance figures should be consistent with those of the Creta Electric.

However, as the Clavis EV is comparatively longer than Hyundai Creta Electric, thus we can expect the Clavis to return slightly lower range and performance than the Creta EV. The spy shots also signifies the addition of a comparatively revised suspension setup than the petrol counterpart which is tuned according to the extra weight of the battery pack and motors.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Design

The Clavis EV will be nearly identical to the ICE version of the Clavis which comes with a unique LED ‘Ice Cube’ styled headlights that runs into the front bumper and features a slimmer LED light bar at the rear to enhance the modern look of the car. It is expected that Kia will be adding EV specific elements to differentiate the electric version with its ICE version.

These elements include notable EV-specific styling such as revised front and rear bumpers, and aero-optimised alloy wheels that will compliment the look of the car giving it a modern and unique stance.

Kia Carens Clavis EV Features

Just like the exterior, Kia will be following the same interior design for the electric version as its ICE counterpart. However, Kia may offer more organised and premium elements to the interiors such as dual-tone dashboard integrated with a dual-screen setup, with a dedicated 12.3-inch infotainment system and an inclusion of 12.3-inch driver display.

Let’s go through the detailed feature list that will be carried forward to the Clavis EV from its petrol version.

  • The vehicle will include ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a premium Bose audio system, a driver’s seat that adjusts electrically in four ways, an air purification system, and a wireless charger.
  • In terms of safety features, Kia will be loading the Clavis EV with 6 airbags, front and rear disc brakes, traction control, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Management, and Level 2 ADAS secured for the top models.
