CATL Unveils TECTRANS II at IAA Transportation 2026, to Push Toward Commercial Vehicle Electrification.
CATL has launched TECTRANS II, its next-generation commercial vehicle battery solution, held at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover. The Executive President of CATL Overseas Business, Akin Li, said that, “Commercial Vehicle electrification is evolving rapidly as the third wave of the global energy transition. Thus in order to align with this wave, CATL is poised to partner with leading partners.”
TECTRANS II: A Modular Platform for Commercial Vehicle Electrification
TECTRANS II is an all-in-one platform for multiple scenarios as it can be configured with different numbers of standardized battery packs, as it can be catered to different energy capacity and payload requirements and support maximum driving range of up to 1,000 Km.
This platform can also accommodate both e-axle and central-drive architectures and can support flexible switching between charging and battery swapping. The platform also standardizes external dimensions, electrical interfaces, and new communication protocols as it can allow multiple battery technologies and packs to evolve.

This provides various benefits to both new and existing vehicle models as they are bound to receive future upgrades without big structural changes to the vehicle platform. The platform’s modular design also helps OEMs to reduce vehicle development cycles by 50% and reduce R&D costs by 60% to 70%, as it can support faster model launches and lower adaptation rates.
