Kinetic DX: Retaining the Design of the Classic Scooter

One thing which we just admire about the new scooter is that the company has retained the original design of the legendary DX scooter of the 90s and incorporated it with modern design elements which includes a full-LED lighting, a new set of 12-inch alloy wheels, flyscreen with an illuminated Kinetic branding, and inclusion of some metal body panels to give it a nostalgic feel.

There is also an addition of a 8.8-inch colour LCD display that just gives digital readouts similar to the original DX’s instrument cluster. Speaking of the nostalgic touches, the new DX scooter also houses a red ‘READY’ starter button, which is similar to the original Kinetic Honda’s switchgear layout.

In terms of measurements, the scooter has a seat that measures 704mm in length, offers 165mm of increased ground clearance, and has a wheelbase of 1314mm. The Kinetic DX electric scooter is designed with a 100/80-12 front tyre and a 220mm disc brake, featuring regenerative braking as a standard feature.

Kinetic DX: Battery & Performance

The power source for the Kinetic DX is a hub-mounted motor generating a maximum power of 4.8 kW, which is paired with a 2.6 kWh LFP battery pack (Located on the floorboard). The top speed is measured at 80 Kph, with a claimed range of 102 Km on a single charge.

The top-spec DX+ gets a comparatively larger claimed range of 116 Km with top speeds amounting to 90 Kph. According to Kinetic, if the user sets the cruise locking speed between 25-30 Kph and rides majorly on flat roads, then the range can be further extended to 150 Km on a single charge in real world conditions.

The Kinetic DX electric scooter charges from 0 to 50% in just 2 hours, reaches 80% in 3 hours, and takes about 4 hours for a complete charge. There is a charger which is integrated with a 15A plug and is located inside the glove compartment through the company’s Easy Charge system.

  • The scooter is also developed in a way that it wishes the user Happy Birthday in around 16 languages, which is quite an unusual feature as no user wants unnecessary features but is quite a flashy one present there.
  • The Kinetic DX and DX+ will be going against the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Vida VX2, and Ather Rizta. Kinetic could be selling the DX from its newly developed Watts & Volts EV showrooms with its existing dealer network.
