Kinetic was not just a name but a nostalgic feeling for every 90s kid, as for many, the Kinetic Honda ZX scooter was an emotional feeling as they grew riding this gem of a scooter.
But according to various reports, the legendary scooter will be returning back in the form of an all-electric powertrain. Recently, Kinetic Group has applied for a patent for a new scooter that mirrors the design of the beloved and iconic heritage scooter.
Kinetic Honda DX: Legendary two-stroke scooter with a CVT transmission
The iconic Kinetic Honda DX scooter was developed under a joint partnership between India’s Kinetic Engineering and Japan’s Honda Motor Company, and was in operations from 1984 to 2007. Drawing inspiration from Honda NH scooters, the Kinetic scooter was designed with a 98 cc two-stroke, air-cooled engine.
As the legendary scooter is returning back, this time it won’t come with its popular two-stroke engine, instead will be an all-electric version. This will be Kinetic’s second product in the lineup after introducing the legacy in a refreshed form of E-Luna.
Kinetic Honda DX: Development Plan
Kinetic Green, which is exclusively made by Kinetic Group, has recently registered a design patent for an entirely new scooter, which seems to be identical to the legendary Kinetic Honda DX. The company has retained the original fascia of the OG scooter as design seems to be heavily inspired by the previous legendary scooter.
However, there is a new Kinetic Green logo placed on the front apron and an inclusion of a new rectangular LED headlamp cluster that gets the exact design but housed with new LED DRLs. The side panels are engineered in a way to resemble the original model, thus retaining the nostalgic feeling and blending it with modern aesthetics.
The previous iconic scooter used to carry a spare tyre in the back but now it has been replaced with new grab rail. The updated design patent reveals that the small flyscreen now bears the 'Kinetic' branding, which has replaced the earlier 'Kinetic Honda' branding that was once synonymous with the legendary scooter.
Kinetic Honda DX: Expected Launch & Competition
However, the technical specifications of the much awaited scooter is not yet revealed but it is expected that the company will be positioning the scooter for family buyers offering a combination of power and efficiency. The company has not clarified anything about the launch timeline of the scooter but we are sure that Kinetic will be soon sharing the exact details in the coming months.
In the family electric scooter category, several two-wheeler manufacturers have introduced their models, and the soon-to-be-released Kinetic electric scooter aims to rival the Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, and Ola S1 X. Thus it will be exciting to see what new features and technology Kinetic will be upgrading in their iconic scooter which has already proven itself in the category of legendary scooters in India.
