Energy In Motion (EIM), which is an associate company of Ravindra Electric Limited have signed an agreement with Beiqi Foton Motor Co. Ltd. to develop Electric heavy commercial vehicles in India. The vehicles will be launched and will be commercially sold in the beginning of Q2 of FY 2025-26.

On the other hand, Beiqi Foton Motor is a subsidiary under the BAIC group. They are also an industry leader in commercial vehicle manufacturing and production of semi electric trucks.

The joint agreement signed by them states that EIM will have all the exclusive rights to produce and position FOTON’s advanced electric heavy commercial vehicles across the country.

If we talk about the sales of 2024, FOTON had a record sales of 6,00,000 commercial vehicles across the world. Their lineup includes a range of commercial heavy loaded vehicles such as trucks, tippers, buses to refrigerated vans. Foton was the first company to receive an autonomous driving road test license in China’s commercial vehicle segment, which is quite impressive.

The main aim of Energy In Motion is focussing towards sustainable solutions. The 49.5% stake of EIM is controlled by Ravindra Energy Limited, with the remaining investments held by other investors.

Instead of making Electric heavy Trucks, EIM will be focussing on building a seamless battery swapping and charging infrastructure across India so as to produce optimum amount of renewable energy for charging the batteries.

Ravindra Energy has hosted multiple projects for the effective generation of renewable energy, thus catering the energy needs of India’s growing companies. The company is also generating renewable energy by working with various state electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs).

The Vice Chairman Of Ravindra Energy Limited and Managing Director of Energy in Motion, Mr. Narendra Murkumbi expressed their views on this joint collaboration and said, “This strategic alliance with FOTON is our commitment towards providing efficient energy and sustainable mobility solutions.

With EIM at the driving seat, we are determined to provide state of the art electric heavy vehicles to the Indian Heavy Vehicles Industry, thus providing effective, clean mobility and commercially sound alternatives  replacing diesel-powered trucks.”
