Exponent Energy highlights its 1MW Rapid Charging Technology and is set to introduce a 1.5MW version soon

Rapid charging technology is booming as Exponent Energy just displayed their 1 MW rapid charging technology for buses and also stated that they are also planning to launch a 1.5 MW charging system for EVs at the end of this year. This came just after BYD displayed their 1MW charging technology for their electric cars in China.
In August 2024, Exponent Energy built a strategic alliance with Veer Vahana, a bus manufacturer company, to unveil the Veer Mahasamrat EV, which is an intercity electric bus with higher charging powers.
To develop this, the company has developed their all new 1MW fast charging tech for electric buses in India.
Sharing opinions on the launch, the CEO and Co-Founder of Exponent Energy, Arun Vinayak tweeted, “As a nation we have to build self confidence that we are capable of developing our own EV technology.
We were followers in ICE, but we can’t repeat this with electric mobility as there is a lot of buzz on BYD’s 1MW charging. But we’ve already developed 1MW charging in India and we’re actually doing this with the help of standard off the shelf cells which makes it 10X accessible.
On the other hand BYD has a fantastic cell material science capability, which allows them to extract the potential to 10C. We want to develop the same infrastructure for India and we are positive that we will have an India cell partner soon.
Exponent Energy was founded in 2020 by Arun Vinayak and Sanjay Balyal and the interesting thing is that they both are former executives at Ather Energy.
Exponent Energy has developed their in-house battery pack (e^pack), charging station (e^pump), and charging connector (e^plug). All these components have the ability to enable a 15-minute fast charge and a 3,000 life cycle warranty for EVs, with the implementation of standard Li-ion cells.
Exponent Energy has claimed that more than 1,700 EVs use their charging systems with more than 3.5 Lakhs fast charging sessions completed, covering 20 lakh kilometers. The company has also expanded their networks to five cities: Delhi NCR, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
The company has a vision to become India’s leading rapid charging company and has raised $44.6 million across Pre-Series A, Series B, funding rounds from investors such as Lightspeed, Eight Roads Ventures, YourNest VC, and AdvantEdge VC.
