The Tata Harrier EV pushes the boundaries of electric SUVs. What makes it stand out?

The recently launched Harrier EV is at the pinnacle of advanced technology and futuristic features and has pushed the boundaries of electric SUVs. Those passionate about electric vehicles have been waiting with bated breath for the arrival of the Harrier EV. Tata will kick off bookings for the electric SUV on July 2.
Currently, the automaker has only revealed the prices for the base model with higher trims expected to be introduced soon. The Harrier EV will be positioned as the flagship product in Tata’s electric lineup which includes Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, and Curvv EV.

Tata Harrier EV: The Return of All-Wheel Drive Technology
Tata Motors has reintroduced the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) tech on the Harrier EV to project the Harrier as a complete all-electric SUV ready for off-road and make the SUV unique by adding the AWD in its feature list. Tata calls this as Quad Wheel Drive (QWD). Thus for smooth off-roading, Harrier EV is powered by dual motors sending power to all four wheels with each motor powering one axle.
POWER: The front electric motor generates 138 BHP of peak power and the rear produces an even more stronger 234 BHP of massive power, combining a total power output of 372 BHP which is quite impressive.
To pull this heavy SUV, Tata has given a mighty torque of 504 Nm. This large amount of power can be extracted with the availability of multiple driving modes, which are Boost, Sport City & Eco.
Transparent Bonet Mode
This is one of the most unique features of Harrier EV. What this technology does is it uses the cameras to display the ground below the SUV directly on the screens thus allowing the driver to have a look at what's beneath the SUV while off-roading and take decisions with accuracy and detailed information.
This technology is generally witnessed only in high-end cars, especially in luxury SUVs like Land Rover.
Powered Boss Mode Functionality
This feature elevates the comfort levels and enhances the luxury feel for the rear occupants in the Harrier EV. The Powered Boss Mode gives the added practicality for the rear occupants to adjust the co-drivers seat electronically via powered buttons, for more leg space and knee room.
Additional amenities for those seated in the back consist of a comfortable headrest, an armrest with a cup holder, rear air conditioning vents, a sunshade, and a 65W Type-C USB charging port.
Terrain Modes for Off-Roading
Tata has worked extensively to make the Harrier EV a potent off-roader. To know about its capabilities, In a recent video, Tata Motors demonstrated the fundamental off-roading prowess of the Harrier EV, showcasing the SUV as it climbs the Elephant rock in Kerala.
The power of AWD can be utilized effectively via various terrain response modes set for different terrains and climatic conditions. The modes at your disposal are Normal, Rock Crawl, Mud Ruts, Snow & Grass, Sand, and Custom.
OFF Road Assist System: Tata has provided this system to enhance the traction and for exercising control over the SUV while off-roading on challenging terrains.
Tata Harrier EV: Upgraded Digital Accessibility
Tata has done remarkable work in providing high-end technology and futuristic modern features in Harrier EV as this electric SUV can be controlled digitally via Digi Access, offering a proximity-based lock and unlock by the user’s presence.
- The uniquely designed remote key can perform 11 different functions and there is an addition of a NFC-based smart card as well.
- There is a dedicated smartphone app designed for Harrier EV, through which the user can control the car via mobile, thus making the mobile function as a remote control for the SUV. Its access can also be shared with multiple persons.
- Addition of an all-new 14.52-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a plethora of connectivity features.Additionally, there is a 10.24-inch instrument cluster available.

Tata Motors states that the Harrier EV can achieve supercar-like performance, going from 0 to 100 Kmph in just 6.3 seconds, an astonishingly quick time. Tata claims that the SUV also gets a full extraction of torque and power in situations where there is requirement of higher power and speed.
