Harrier EV x Red Bull: Taming the Beas River with Tech

Tata Motors released a teaser depicting a stunning display of immense electric prowess as the Tata Harrier EV partnered with Red Bull to take up the “Impossible - Act II” challenge of crossing the heavy streams of Beas River. 

However, this was not just a test of the off-road capability of the electric SUV, but how the advanced technology of Harrier EV can turn a dangerous natural river filled with potholes into a seamless path. Let’s understand how the Harrier EV achieved the impossible. 

The Vision: 540-Degree Camera

Navigating a river is a different game as the teaser showcased that the water was filled with heavy boulders and uneven terrain. But the Harrier EV seamlessly guided through the river, all thanks to the 540-Degree Camera which provided multiple camera angles by utilising the “Transparent Hood” feature. 

This feature allows the driver to virtually see throughout the vehicle’s bonnet and floor, giving it a proper idea of what is beneath. This ensured that every submerged rock and boulders are clearly visible to the driver, allowing the driver to make judgements and steer precisely rather than just doing a guesswork. Thus the Harrier EV was seamlessly utilising this technology to drive intelligently. 

The Power: Boost Mode

After passing through the shallow waters and boulders, gliding through heavy current requires brute power and force. This is where the Boost Mode came into picture as when the river currents were exerting immense resistance indicating to stall or or sweep away the car. Turning on the Harrier EV’s Boost Mode generated peak torque output of 540 Nm from its dual-motor AWD setup. 

This heavy surge of power helped the vehicle to regain the momentum and glide effortlessly over the loose stones and push the wave of rushing water without the turbo lag which is pretty evident in the traditional ICE engines. 

Thus striking a perfect balance between advanced technology and explosive raw power, the Harrier EV just conquered the Beas River, which just makes the Harrier EV truly justify the tagline “Delete the Limits, Delete the Noise, Delete - Impossible”.
