Honda 0 Alpha Testing Programme
According to Honda, India’s extreme roads will access the upcoming SUV’s performance across a diverse range of climatic conditions in India, which also includes city driving, highway and rough-road conditions. Honda will be also implementing extensive charging performance tests and overall usability testing during the trials.
The President & CEO of Honda Cars India, Takashi Nakajima, expressed his views on this and said, “The start of Indian road testing for the 0 Alpha electric SUV is a big milestone as the car has to be adjusted according to the country’s rough terrain conditions. Thus it will be crucial for us to test our vehicle thoroughly in real-world environments.”

Honda’s Tapukara Plant to support Honda’s EV Production
The upcoming electric SUV is all set to be locally manufactured in India exclusively in Honda’s Tapukara plant situated in Rajasthan. This project also includes an investment of Rs 1,200 crore as per the earlier report followed by the meeting held by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Honda Cars President & CEO Takashi Nakajima. The model is expected to be launched in India in FY2026-27, with India and Japan serving as the initial markets.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan is also supporting the “Make in India for the World” initiative, which could also generate several employment opportunities in the region. These developments are further linked to the CM’s Japan visit in September 2024, at the time when global manufacturers were invited to invest extensively in Rajasthan during the Rising Rajasthan Global Summit.
