Hyundai has started working on its biggest vision for the upcoming decade as they are eyeing for 5.55 million global sales by 2030. The company has prioritised electric mobility by setting a goal of 60% of total sales to come from EVs and hybrids.
The company has formulated its long-term strategy which will be focussing on the development of introducing new body shapes, innovating its in-house software abilities and expanding its production capacity to a big scale.
Hyundai’s Dedicated EV Strategy for India
The company’s dedicated EV strategy includes the launch of Genesis brand in India which will be targeting the consumers of the luxury segment and generating demand from them. On the other hand, Hyundai is also readying its Extender Range EVs to hit the market by 2027, which will be catered to deliver exceptional range of up to 965 Km on a single charge, thus integrating between battery and powertrain technologies.
The Korean manufacturer has set their aim to achieve 3.3 million electrified vehicle sales per year by the end of 2030. As part of its detailed strategy, Hyundai is planning to launch 18 hybrid models across its entire lineup which also includes its luxury Genesis brand.
The company has also confirmed the launch of Palisade in hybrid configurations, followed by the Genesis brand, which will begin its transition to hybrid vehicles at the start of 2026.
Hyundai Approach for Different Regions
Hyundai will be following a specific approach for its passenger electric cars across various regions, as Europe will witness the launch of Ioniq 3 first, while the company is all set to locally manufacture their first EV in India positioned for budget-conscious consumers.
Meanwhile in China, Hyundai will commence the production of the Elexio SUV and a new all-electric sedan. The Korean brand is also focussing on the North American pickup segment and is planning to develop a new midsize SUV truck, which will be heavily based on the Santa Cruz.
Hyundai is also looking for expansion in commercial space, with plans for commercial vans and hydrogen fuel cells trucks, which are currently in the development phase for the US markets.
If we look at the current lineup of Hyundai, it is all set to reveal an all-new Venue next month with various enhancements in exterior and interior as well. Apart from this, the company is heavily testing the facelifted versions of Ioniq 5, i20, and Verna.
The upcoming Hyundai EV made specifically for the Indian market is expected to share design cues from the company’s popular sub-4m SUVs like Venue and Exter and will be having striking resemblance from the global Ioniq/Inster electric versions. Hyundai has confirmed that they will be positioning the upcoming EV below the Creta Electric and will be priced competitively to undercut its rivals.
The upcoming EV will be available with two battery options and will be returning a claimed range of more than 450 Km on a single charge.
