India has enhanced its EV infrastructure by installing a total of 27,432 charging stations across the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Nature Gas year-end press release, specifically under the FAME-II government scheme, and due to this, around 8,932 charging stations were installed in retail stores.

Oil marketing companies have also installed more than 18,500 charging stations by investing their own money, thus bringing the total amount of charging stations close to 27,432.

This development in the charging infrastructure will motivate more people for transition towards electric cars, making the charging seamless and easier to adopt. These stations are also deployed fuel stations, where people generally go to fuel up their cars, making it easier for drivers to charge their vehicles.

India adds 27000+ charging stations

If we talk about Public Sector Oil Marketing companies, they are installing up to 4,000 Energy stations during 2024-25 to 2028-29 along major highways and other feasible corridors.

These stations will undergo further development to become integrated power hubs that provide a variety of fuels, including petrol, diesel, and electric charging options, as well as biofuels such as CNG, LNG, and additional electric charging facilities.

Currently, more than 1,064 Energy Stations have been installed. Apart from charging, the government is also focussing on the development of big trucks by introducing the “APNA GHAR” project. Under this scheme, the government has created more than 500 rest areas for truckers.

These areas will improve road safety and help generate employment especially in the rural parts of India. These joint efforts are made for an objective of making the transportation more sustainable and efficient for future generations.
