The electric passenger vehicle market has shown a strong momentum by crossing 30,000 sales milestone for consecutive second month in a row in July 2026. For the month of July 2026, the EV market recorded a strong growth of 32,609 EVs sold last month, which is a significant increase of 83% year-on-year (YoY), as per Vahan Data.

EV sales report July 2026

Tata Motors: Tata Motors has maintained its position at Number 1 position, as they have recently diversified its portfolio of electric cars by introducing the Sierra EV and recorded its highest ever EV sales at 13,578 units in July. This has a 102% rise than July 2025 and is 6% more than the previous month sales.

The company is also leading the market with 40% EV market share after a long time. The Nexon EV continues to bring the majority of sales with the Tiago EV and Punch EV also attracting a chunk of audience. 

Mahindra: This Indian manufacturer has solidified its position at number two and has crossed 7,000 units for the second month in a row by registering 125% YoY over July 2025, although it was 498 units less than the previous month. This strong performance has helped its market share jump to 22%. 

JSW MG Motor India: JSW MG Motors sold over 5,642 EVs in July, which is down by 4% YoY and 9% lower than June 2026. MG Motors command a market share of 16%, which is significantly down by 33% in July 2025. 

Maruti Suzuki: Maruti sold around 1,590 e Vitara units in July, which marks the fifth consecutive month of four-digit sales, followed by March, April, and May. However, the sales of July were around 20% lower than June, which is one of the best months for the e Vitara

VinFast India: The Vietnamese manufacturer has secured fifth position in the country's electric passenger vehicle market. The company has registered the highest ever monthly sales in July with a total of 1,478 units, which provides 4% market share to the company.
