Maruti e-Vitara Exports Cross 50,000 Units: How Europe is Driving India's EV Boom
Maruti Suzuki has successfully exported more than 50,000 units of locally manufactured e-Vitara. The company has achieved this milestone in just over a year and proves the unmatched prowess of India's automotive capabilities.
Between the timeline of April and September 2026, Maruti Suzuki was the leading manufacturer as it accounted for an impressive 93% of all passenger EV exports specifically from India.
Europe Leading India’s EV Boom
Currently Europe is the first region to receive massive shipments of the e-Vitara and is one of the leading countries to emerge as the largest export destination for the electric SUV.

Apart from Europe, Maruti Suzuki is also focussing on shipping the e-Vitara to 50 countries worldwide, which includes major markets like UK, Norway, Germany, and Switzerland. Suzuki’s home country, Japan has also started receiving the e-Vitara in September 2025 and has rapidly emerged as the second-largest export destination for the company.
The Gujarat Powerhouse Behind the Global Success
This export milestone is only possible due to Maruti Suzuki’s dedicated Hansalpur facility situated in Gujarat. It is also the global production base for the company’s first electric car. It has also received a massive investment of Rs 25,288.7 crore.
The Hansalpur manufacturing facility has a total production capacity of 1 million vehicles. This makes it the first Suzuki plant globally to reach this massive scale of production.

Maruti Suzuki’s Future Electric Vision
The Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki, Hisashi Takeuchi, has expressed that the company’s vision is to export the e-Vitara to nearly 50 countries in order to reflect India’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and to strengthen its presence in the global electric vehicle market.
