Why did he choose e Vitara?

For Rohit, transitioning to an electric car was a big step, but Maruti Suzuki branding gave him the trust and confidence. He brought the top-spec Alpha variant at Rs 21.5 lakhs on-road (After EV subsidies).

Maruti has also provided some stellar deals for early buyers as Rohit is eligible for free charging via the Maruti EV app and also gets a complimentary 7.4 kW home charger, with a highly reassuring 4 Year/60% buyback guarantee. These deals just give you confidence to go ahead and invest in a brand-new EV.

Maruti e Vitara Performance & Real Range

According to numbers, the e Vitara comes packed with a 61 kWh battery pack generating 173 PS of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Rohit states that e Vitara is very punchy off the line and quite responsive to throttle inputs. But what about the Range?

RANGE: Maruti claims an ARAI-certified range of 543 Km, What’s shocking is that Rohit managed to extract 510 Km on highway by cruising the car continually at 50-60 km/hr with the A/C running. However, in city limits, the car comfortably provided 480-480 Km of real-world range.

CHARGING: Rohit also shed the light on charging experience as the car can go from 0-100% SOC  in about 9 hours via the 7.4 kW AC charger. However, for quick road-trips, he has also charged from the 70 kW DC fast charger and he was able to charge from 50-100% SOC in just 45 minutes.

Maruti e Vitara Features, Comfort & Issues

The e Vitara is equipped with some amazing features that enhance its practicality. As per Rohit, one of his favourite was the ‘Snow Mode’ which effortlessly pulls the car from deep potholes by engaging the traction.

He also appreciated Maruti for providing physical buttons for HVAC controls, The A/C is also effective in excessive heat conditions, and reliable ADAS functionality makes the e Vitara a comfortable cruiser on the highways. The suspension is also tuned for Indian road conditions and handles bad roads with ease, without making passengers uncomfortable.

ISSUES: However, there are imperfections too, as with a height of 6’1”, Rohit faces challenges with the cabin ergonomics. His knees touch the steering wheel, and the rear seats lack thigh support for taller occupants, which could be a pain especially for long highway journeys.

He also addressed that the piano-black interior console is prone to scratches easily (PPF is mandatory). Rohit also felt that the e Vitara misses out on modern technological features such as panoramic sunroof and an electrical tailgate.

The Final Verdict

Taking everything into consideration, Rohit gives a solid 4 out of 5 stars for e Vitara. He deducted a minor point on some ergonomic faults for taller occupants and absence of some modern tech features.

Ultimately, if you want peace of mind, and an exceptional real-world range of 500+ Km, and Maruti’s fuss-free ownership experience, then e Vitara is a valuable choice, as sometimes reliability and trust matters the most than panoramic sunroof.
