The Matter Aera has officially launched in Delhi for Rs 1.93 Lakh. Meet the pioneering EV geared motorbike.

Matter, an Indian electric bike manufacturer, has launched its all-new Aera motorcycle in Delhi and secured the title of India's first geared electric two-wheeler. Users can also book the Aera from the company’s official website and is available at an introductory price of Rs 1,93,826. 

The e-motorcycle was set to launch in Delhi, a city that has earned the title of one of the most polluted in the world. This makes it an ideal location to transform electric mobility and sparks growing interest in this field. Matter’s latest Aera E-motorcycle is a perfect balance between efficiency, performance and reliability. 

Matter Aera: Manual gearbox reimagined for electric use

Matter has brought the fun of shifting gears in electric mobility as they have introduced their all-new ‘HyperShift’ transmission for this electric motorcycle. Developed in-house, this 4-speed transmission is integrated with three riding modes, thus making a combination of 12-gears. 

In a basic EV, power is available at just a tap of accelerator which just eradicates the use of gears used in ICE bikes to extract power as needed, but Matter has engineered the power of their electric bike into a manual control of 12 preset gears which gives the control to rider to extract power according to his preferences, which just adds a dose of excitement, thus Matter has excelled in key areas of user involvement, where EVs just fail to impress. 

Matter Aera: Battery & Performance

Powering the Aera motorcycle is a 5 kWh battery pack which is liquid-cooled electric powertrain, which is exclusively engineered according to Indian climates and road conditions. 

This helps the Aera to provide a significant range of up to 172 Km on a single charge, as per IDC conditions. Matter claims that the bike can go from 0-100 in under 2.8 seconds, which is quite impressive. 

Matter Aera: Features 

Matter has loaded the Aera with various modern features such as a 7-inch touchscreen display with integrated navigation, rider data, and music controls and will also receive Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates. 

The Aera also features various connectivity features as it has a sync with MatterVerse app which provides functionalities like remote locking and unlocking, live location tracking, Geo-Fencing, and ride information. 

Safety Features: The Aera will be coming with a dual-disc setup coupled with ABS integrated with a dual suspension system. A smart park assist feature is also part of the package, designed to function at low speeds. Other features include a keyless start system which enhances the comfort.

Matter Aera: Ownership Costs 

Matter claims that the Aera is quite affordable and will generate energy at mere 25 paise per Km, with a significant savings of up to Rs 1 Lakh over the duration of three years if compared to traditional motorcycles.
