The Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT, a new e-truck from Montra Electric, has been launched alongside the inauguration of a battery assembly facility.

Montra Electric, which comes under the clean mobility brand of the Murugappa Group, has introduced an all-electric Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT. This commercial e-truck was unveiled at their eM&HCV (electric & heavy commercial vehicle) production facility situated at Manesar, Haryana. 

This launch has diversified the current lineup of Montra Electric Rhino EV trucks, as their foundation was laid by the success of their first heavy-duty electric truck, the 6*4 TT, which has completed more than 1.2 crore Km within just two years of launch.

The recently unveiled Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT will be available with two variants to choose from, which varies according to the battery swapping and standard integrated battery pack. The e-truck is available at an starting price of Rs 1.15 crore (ex-factory) for the fixed battery pack model and Rs 1.18 crore (ex-factory) for the battery swapping model.

Montra is also supporting new customers by their electric’s AMC contract for 10 years or 9 lakh km whichever comes first, with a 95% uptime guarantee. Recently, Montra Electric also announced their all-women managed Automated Battery Plant and a new conveyor line combined with ‘Automated Guided Vehicles’ (AGVs).

Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT Technical Specifications

Battery Swapping Model: If we talk about the battery swapping variant, it takes approximately less than 6 minutes as compared to over an hour with regular fast charging. It also comes with an option of 7+1 seating configuration and has the capacity to handle more than 160 swaps per day at its maximum capacity and catered for a heavy usage based on fleet demand. 

Standard Battery Pack: The Rhino EV 5538 EV 4*2 TT comes equipped with a substantial 282 kWh LFP battery pack, producing a maximum power output of 380 HP and 2,000 Nm of peak torque, and can return a range of approx 198 Km on a single charge. 

It will also feature a 6-speed AMT transmission, which can support multiple trailer types and manage a Gross Combination Weight (GCW) of 55 tons.

Before introducing electric vehicles in the commercial vehicle category, Montra Electric’s lineup also included electric three-wheelers, small commercial vehicles, and tractors for rural use.
