Mercedes-Benz unveils third-gen GLA with first-ever electric version.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the third generation GLA, which also comes with an all-electric powertrain for the first time. The GLA EV is underpinned by MMA architecture and comes with three variants to choose from: 250, 250+ and 350. 

The 3rd generation GLA comes with an option of a 58 kWh and a substantial 85 kWh battery pack, with a significant range of 657 Km on a single charge. It also comes paired with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system, which could be launched in 2027. 

Mercedes GLA EV Design 

The third generation GLA EV is designed according to Mercedes’s latest SUV design philosophy, as it includes a large grille with different styling options for EV and ICE versions. It features multiple LED elements arranged in horizontal strips, while the ICE version gets a chrome tristar detailing. 

Both versions come with illuminated grille surround. The new headlights get the signature tristar-shaped LED DRLs, while the front bumper is surrounded by two black inserts that adds to the sporty appeal. 

If we look at the side profile, the GLA EV is integrated by 18 to 20 inches dual-tone alloy wheels and a gloss black wheel arch cladding paired with a black lower body finish. These styling elements make the visual appearance of the SUV more rugged, thus enhancing the overall look of the SUV. 

The rear gets wraparound taillights with the same tristar lighting and a full-width red light bar that connects the taillights. There is also an inclusion of gloss-black rear bumper with horizontal detailing. 

Mercedes GLA EV Technical Specifications 

The Mercedes-Benz GLA EV comes with an option of three variants: 250, 250+, and 350. Below we have mentioned the detailed battery and range figures in the form of a table in order to give you a clear understanding of the technical specifications. 

The Mercedes GLA EV supports fast DC charging up to 320 kW and can provide a range of 270 Km in 10 minutes. It comes with 800-Volt technology. It also supports AC charging up to 22 kW.

• The 3-generation GLA comes equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel integrated with physical controls on the center console, while the air conditioning functions are controlled via touchscreen. 
• The cabin is complimented with an all-black theme integrated with silver accents. It also comes with fabric or leatherette seats. 
• The third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA comes equipped with a tech-oriented interior consisting of a MBUX Superscreen triple-display setup. It comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 14-inch infotainment screen and a 14-inch passenger display. 

• Other features include 16-speaker Burmester 3D audio system, panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, 360-Degree Camera with an optional ‘transparent bonnet’ function and automatic parking assistance.
