MG Comet EV Real-World Range Test Explained
The Comet EV is an affordable electric car from MG, catered for budget consumers, as it comes powered with a 17.3 kWh Lithium-ion prismatic cell battery pack. We recently had a talk with the owner of the MG Comet EV to know the exact real-world range he is able to extract with the car.
According to the user, the MG Comet EV range in traffic conditions provided a real-world range between 190-200 Km. He shared his full experience of his ownership and a real-world range test done on a predefined route, under ideal conditions.

According to MG, The Comet EV comes with a claimed range of 230 Km on a single charge. However, the user achieved a real-world range of 191 Km on a single charge during the range test, which was conducted in a mix of city and highway conditions. The user also mentioned that he started the range test from 100-0% charge.

MG Comet EV Charging Experience
After the range test, the car had drained its full battery, that’s why it was time to recharge the battery back to 100% SOC. However, one of the biggest challenges with the Comet EV is its charges as compared to the latest era of EV technology.
The user told us that Comet EV takes around 7-8 hours to recharge this compact EV from 10-80% through its 3.3 kW charger. However, it takes roughly 3.5 hours to charge from 0-100% via 7.4 kW AC fast charger.

How does it perform in the City?
The Comet EV is specifically catered for daily urban commutes and the prime reason why the majority of consumers will be opting the compact hatchback. The user was happy to report that Comet EV is a breeze to drive in the city as he enjoyed the light steering and one pedal driving, as it helps to increase efficiency.
The Comet EV is an ideal city car as it was very easy to maneuver in heavy traffic and tight parking spots, as it is quite responsive to steering inputs and also comes with a short lock-to-lock steering wheel.
POWER: With the 17.3 kWh battery pack, the motor sends power to the rear axle and generates a maximum power output of 41 BHP and a peak torque of 110 Nm as it also comes equipped with three driving modes such as Eco, Normal & Sport.
