MG's New Era of Smart Mobility at MG Tech Day: Electrification & ADAS
MG announced the all-new plug-in hybrid+ technology at MG Tech Day at its UK headquarters in London. This new state-of-the-art technology includes MG SolidCore Battery Technology for Plug-in-Hybrid models and a new ADAS designed specifically for Europe driving conditions.
These latest upgrades will make the advanced technology more accessible and useful for everyday driving. These hybrid powertrains will help in increasing the efficiency by integrating intelligent parking assistance, motorway driving support, and long-term autonomous mobility development.

MG’s all-new Plug-in Hybrid+ technology strikes a perfect balance between mechanical engineering and intelligent electrification to provide advanced efficiency, responsive performance and smooth driving. Thus this system is intended to provide a balanced driving experience across a range of speeds, terrains and driving conditions.

The Plug-in Hybrid+ system comprises a dedicated hybrid petrol engine, which comes powered with a 1.1-litre turbocharged and 1.5-litre turbocharged variants. These engines are exclusively developed for hybrid technology as the engine is capable of achieving maximum thermal efficiency of more than 42% and 43% respectively.
The all-new hybrid transmission system is equipped with two core technologies. These include Power Split & Motor Decoupling.
Power Split: This technology distributes a balanced power between the engine and electric motors, thus optimising the energy flow according to the terrain and driving scenarios.

Motor Decouping: This technology brings a disconnect mechanism that completely switches off the generator especially during pure electric driving. This eradicates the risk of unnecessary drag and improves electric drive efficiency.
SolidCore Battery for Plug-in Hybrid+ Models
MG has confirmed that their recently introduced SolidCore Battery Technology will mark its debut across Plug-in Hybrid+ models, thus representing the next generation of MG’s electrification. MG will be the first electric manufacturer to achieve mass production of semi-solid-state batteries, which will be calibrated specifically for Plug-in Hybrid+ applications.
According to MG, the application of new SolidCore batteries will enhance performance across all speeds, driving conditions and all terrains. These batteries also provide stable battery output which results in a more consistent vehicle performance.

Next Generation ADAS Technology
MG has also updated its ADAS to make it more realistic in everyday driving in order to provide an exceptional driving experience. MG is utilising real-world European data to make its driving technologies more accurate for the roads and customers using it everyday.
The brand has collected more than 1.2 million Km of real data across 24 European countries and are enabling the algorithms to update regularly based on local driving conditions.
