The Next Generation BMW iX3 to get 800V Neue Klasse Gen6 eDrive EV Tech, Promises Range of more than 804 Km

BMW is currently focussing on its Neue Klasse Gen6 eDrive EV Technology, which will be introduced in the new generation iX3. BMW will be powering a 800-Volt system which will provide a significant range of 804 Km, which is quite substantial.
This new system will also be providing 30% faster charging for the batteries, Apart from BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce is also expected to get this similar technology in their future cars. Besides these electric cars, The M performance models will be also equipped with the same technology.
800V Neue Klasse Gen6 eDrive EV Tech
The Gen6 eDrive EV technology of BMW is the 800-Volt charging. BMW has designed the battery in a unique way here, as they have built the battery pack with cylindrical cells rather than prismatic cells. What it does is these cylindrical cells come with five times more energy density, thus generating more power at the same torque.
BMW claims that this technology will enable the EV batteries to charge 30% faster and provide an additional 30% of range compared to the current versions. Some cars will get even higher figures due to their different shape and designs.
The Gen6 EVs will also feature bi-directional charging. The cylindrical cells used in the battery pack will become a structural component in the Neue Klasse technology, which will significantly reduce the weight of the EVs and increase the overall structural rigidity of the electric vehicle. The battery packs will also be designed slimmer so that they can be comfortably placed in the electric cars.
BMW has also announced that they will be installing asynchronous motors to the front-axle of the all-wheel drive xDrive electric cars, because they are compact in size and cheaper to manufacture as compared to permanent synchronous type.
