Renault is also planning to enter the Indian EV industry as it is working on the development of electric Kwid, as the new facelifted production model has been spotted testing on the outskirts of Chennai. The latest version of the Kwid EV will undergo fresh design changes carrying the signature details of the car which gave it the identity in the sub-compact hatchback segment.

As per reports, the Renault Kwid EV will take inspiration from Dacia Spring EV and could be a rebadged version of the Romanian electric hatchback. They will be also sharing the same technical specifications and features, with noticeable design elements setting them apart.

Renault Kwid EV Expected Design

The test version as spotted in the spy shots is not featuring the exhaust system which signifies that the particular model is the electric version of Kwid. It is also equipped with a redesigned front fascia integrated with sleek LED DRLs and halogen projector headlamps placed below.

Talking about the side profile, it has a striking resemblance to the current-generation ICE-powered Kwid coming with similar stance at the sides flanked by squared-off wheel arches with body cladding, traditional door flaps, newly styled steel wheels, and the same beltline.

The rear of the Kwid EV is a bit more sophisticated than the ICE model and comes integrated with a roof spoiler and new taillights styled with Y-shaped motifs, redesigned bumper, followed by a rear window wiper.

Renault Kwid EV Interiors

Compared to the exteriors, the interiors of the new Kwid EV come with more radical changes by bringing a completely new interior layout. There is an inclusion of a new steering wheel and a substantial digital instrument cluster. The spy shots also gave a glimpse of a new large touchscreen infotainment system coming with a fresh UI theme.

Other features include height-adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, climate control, and rear center armrest. Its sibling, the Spring EV comes with a Level-1 ADAS, however it will be interesting to see whether the same security system will continue with the India-spec variant.

Renault Kwid EV Battery & Performance

The Kwid EV is expected to be powered by the same battery configurations as the Dacia Spring EV, which comes powered with two electric motor options. Both will source power from a 26.8 kWh battery pack which is expected to provide a significant range of 304 Km on a single charge. Below are the detailed technical specs of both the motors coming with the Kwid EV.

  • A 33 kW motor generating 45 BHP of maximum power output.
  • A 48 kW motor producing 65 BHP of peak power
