Tata Sets New High for EV Sales in India, Marking a 96% Growth.

Tata Motors has set a benchmark for the Indian EV industry by recording the highest EV sales in the country by achieving 96% growth in sales which is currently the highest any brand has achieved in India. The company registered an impressive growth in year-on-year surge in EV sales and FY25 has proved to be a revival year for the brand in terms of numbers.
Analysing the sales of September, Tata recorded sales of 9,191 EVs (Domestic & Exports Combined) in comparison to 4,680 units in the same time period last year. Thus the double digit growth has repositioned Tata as the country’s leader in EV sales, contributing to nearly one in five of its total passenger sales recorded during the same month.
If we analyse quarterly sales, the manufacturer registered sales of 24,855 EVs during Q2 of FY25, which is almost 59% from 15,642 units recorded in the past year. This signifies the company’s strongest quarterly EV performance ever recorded by the company.
Tata Motors recently updated their electric lineup by introducing their flagship electric SUV, the Harrier EV, thus this diversification of products is broadening their appeal in the electric mobility segment.
Consecutive Record Breaking Months
If we look at the cumulative EV sales recorded between the time period of January and September 2025, it is around 57,022 units, which amounts to four-fifth of its CY24 sales, thus strengthening the company’s position in the Indian EV market and has projected to cross the one lakh yearly sales target, a big milestone that was just an imagination, and due to this, the overall passenger vehicle business has also generated impressive business and growth.
The total sales registered in Q2 FY26 including the international sales reached a total of 1,44,397 units, which implies a significant increase of 10% over 1,30,753 units recorded in Q2 FY25.
The domestic PV wholesales amounted to 1,40,189 units, signifying a 8% growth year-on-year. On the other hand, exports have also played an impactful role with international PV sales witnessing a growth to 4,208 units from mere 823 units in the same quarter of the last year, indicating an impressive rise in EV sales.
