Tata Motors are planning to introduce a lifetime warranty with an unlimited lifetime warranty on its popular electric models like Nexon and Curvv EV. Here ‘Lifetime’ word is applicable for a warranty period of 15 years from the date of registration of the electric vehicle from the local RTO office. This is applicable even for existing owners.

NOTE: It is crucial to understand that only the owners of the Nexon 45 kWh model will qualify for the lifeime warranty. Following the second registration, the warranty duration will be restricted to 8 years or 160,000 Km for both the Nexon EV and Curvv EV.

Tata has stated that it is compulsory for owners to inform them of any ownership transfer; failing to do so will result in the warranty not being available.

Tata Unlimited Warranty Terms & Conditions 

Tata Motors has formulated certain terms and conditions for the unlimited warranty for the buyers. It is also very important to follow these terms and conditions to retain their battery warranty. 

• It is compulsory to service and repair your EV at an authorized Tata.ev service station and to adhere to the maintenance schedule provided by TATA Passenger Electric Mobility Limited.
• The vehicle is required to be registered in the names of private individuals.
• Registrations under the company perk scheme for employees enable the vehicle to be transferred to the same employee afterward.

• Selling or transferring the vehicle to a third party will void the warranty.
• The vehicle must sustain an uninterrupted and active IRA.ev connection for the entire ownership period.
• The battery should be functioning correctly and must not have any physical damage or signs of tampering.
• When a repair or replacement of an HV battery occurs during the warranty period, Tata.ev will guarantee that the energy capacity of the HV battery matches an optimal state of health (SOH) before the replacement or reaches 80%, whichever is the higher value.

The Tata Harrier EV marks Tata's inaugural electric vehicle, featuring a lifetime warranty. However in the second registration, the owner will get a slightly longer warranty duration at 10 years or 2 Lakh kilometers of warranty, whichever comes first. As it stands, Tata offers a standard warranty lasting 8 years or covering 1,60,000 Km.
